HomeHistory

Background Info Originally founded in 2007 as the ASIA-PDX (Association of Senior Indian Americans -Portland, OR) with all-volunteer leadership has been promoting and conducting activities for seniors of Indian origin in the Portland metro area.

In August 2020 in order to provide expanded resources, Oregon Venture Advancement Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit, acquired the ASIA-PDX activities and renamed it as Association of Seniors of Indian Origin (ASIO).

ASIO is operated by an all-volunteer leadership with a vision to expand connectivity and engagement among seniors in the community to the next level with the help of digital tools. Under its new charter, ASIO plans to augment its resources based on affordable membership fees.

The association’s activities have included regular meetings in Bethany / Beaverton areas, special events with invited speakers on topics of interest, summer picnics, group games, laughter exercise sessions, and domestic/international travels to tourist attractions.
