Dear friends,
Happy December! Association of Seniors of Indian Origin, ASIO extends heartfelt gratitude to our members and the community for their unwavering support this year. As we approach 2024, we are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to continued collaboration and growth together.
In this issue, you will find information about the following:

Golmaal,we are happy to announce our very first play presentation. If you have not already reservedyour tickets, please do so. This is a free event, but donations are accepted. See below for details.

2023 Highlights:
From January to December, ASIO has been buzzing with abundance of programs and events. Let's revisit some standout highlights:
Talks on interesting topics, here is a glimpse of some noteworthy examples:
  • Mindful Body movement based on Natya Shastra by Shivani Joshi
  • Diet and Lifestyle recommendations by American Health Association by Dr. Atul Gupta, MD
  • Author of many books, including Eat, Chew, Live, Diabetes: The real cause and the right cure, Dr. John M. Pothullil
  • Meeting with Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici
  • Presentation by Ride Connections
  • Manju and Aslam Jain of Creative Pause did a presentation on Social and Emotional work, SEL that they do in school and non-profit organizations.
  • Management and care of Arthritis by Dr. Meenakshi Aggarwal, MD, FAAFP
Tasty and healthy Snack Challenge:in some of our meetings we rewarded the individual bringing the healthiestsnack. Many of our members participated in this fun event.
Book Discussion -we continued to read and discuss books every month via zoom. Following are the books read in 2023:
  • "The final revival of Opal and Nev" by Dawnie Walton.
  • "Where the forest meets the stars" by Glendy Vanderah
  • "The Last Queen" by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.
  • "The Monk who sold his Ferrari" by Robin Sharma
  • "Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World" by Dr. Vivek Murthy, M.D.
Picnics and Outings:
  • Picnic at the Orenco Woods National Park in July,
  • Picnic at the Cook Park in August, and
  • the Bus trip to the Silverfalls in September.
ASIO Hiking Group:
Delightfulgentle hikes around the town. Here is a list ofNature Hikesthat we have done so far in 2023.

2023 Diwali Partywas a huge success, thanks to the participation from both the young and very young members of our community. Witnessing multiple generations in the same room added a special touch to the event.
