Dear Friends,
As we step into the final month of 2024, we reflect on a year filled with growth, connection and unforgettable moments. Your support and engagement have made this year truly memorable for us. Association of Seniors of Indian Origin, (ASIO) Board would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to our members and community for their unwavering support this year. Financial Exploitation- The Elder Safe Program with Washington County Sheriff's office presents on Financial Exploitation. The program will cover why scammers target older adults, how to spot scams, scam examples, resources for scams and tips to outsmart scammers. In this presentation, the Elder Safe Program Coordinator will cover scams that have happened in Washington county. The program will also highlight what the Elder Safe program does in Washington County Sheriff's office.

January 2025 Event
We are thrilled to announce the second production by our ASIO members. Following the success of our debut play - "Golmaal" we are back with another captivating performance - a performance that promises to make you laugh, think and connect. Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable afternoon of storytelling, talent and creativity.

Title: Golmaal Golgappe Ka
Price: Free for members, $5 for non-members. Children under 8 free.
Socialization Hour: After the play, please join us in Meeting Room A to meet the cast, connect with fellow attendees, and share your thoughts on the performance. Tea and snacks provided by ASIO.
2025 Membership:
While membership is optional, it plays a vital role in keeping our events free, ensuring broader accessibility for seniors. Your membership dues and donations support this initiative, and we welcome you to be a part of it. Please consider joining by clicking at  Membership sign-up  or alternatively you may bring a check to one of our events. Our annual membership is $50 per person or $100 for a couple. 2024 Highlights:
As the year draws to a close, we look back on 2024 with immense pride and gratitude. This year has been filled with moments that brought our community closer together and propelled us forward. Let's revisit some standout highlights:
Talks on interesting topics, here is a glimpse of some noteworthy examples:

  • Dr. Meenakshi Agarwal spoke about hearing loss in aging adults. Attached are the slides from her talk Hearing loss slides.
  • Introduction to pencil sketching by Mr. Satish Bhardwaj.
  • Benefits of creating and coloring Mandalas by Mrs. Lakshmi Mani.

  • Dr. Anupam Garg, spoke about the eye diseases and eye care for seniors.
  • "Power of purpose" by Shilpi Chanda.
Book Discussion -we continued to read and discuss books every month via zoom. Following are the books read in 2024:

Summer Picnics in 2024:
  • Picnic at Rood Bridge Park in July
  • Bus trip to Seaside Beach in August, and
  • Picnic at Cook Parkin September

ASIO Hiking Group:

Our gentle hikes this year not only brought members closer to nature and one another but also inspired creativity in unexpected ways. Members bonded over their love for nature, exchanged stories, and captured moments through photography. The sharing of these photos - each one a unique perspective - strengthened our connections even further, sparking conversations and fostering a deeper sense of community.

2024 Holi & Diwali Party was a huge success, thanks to the participation from both the young and very young members of our community. Witnessing multiple generations in the same room added a special touch to the event.
